About MeHello,
I am Ginny Dean, currently residing in Hauppauge, Long Island, and an Undergraduate student at Hofstra University majoring In Early Childhood/Childhood Education with a co major in Psychology! Upon graduation I will pursue a Masters Degree in Special Education and Literacy. I plan to work in a special education or inclusion type classroom for younger aged elementary students (1st/2nd grade) in the future! I want to be the person who someone looks back and says she really impacted me and changed my life. For me that person was my second grade teacher Ms. Martello. Instantly on the first day of school her and I made this amazing connection. We bonded so fast due to the fact that in her 25 plus years of teaching, in her last year, I was the first ever student she taught who shared the same name. Ms. Martello truly changed my life. She personally helped me to strive and reach my potential at such a young age. Even when she was no longer my teacher, she continued to help me grow and learn. She sent me home with workbooks in areas where I still was struggling in to help prepare me for the dreaded third grade with all the state testing. Once I finished these books I was told to mail them to her. A few weeks later came the biggest surprise in my life Ms. Martello was at my door coming to pick me up and take me for ice cream. I had never felt so happy and excited in my life to that point, a moment which is still one of the most impacting on me today. That was the moment I knew I wanted to be a teacher just like Ms. Martello. |
Ever since I was a young child I had a great passion for learning new things and helping others. I always wanted to explore and know everything and anything possible. I couldn’t learn enough about any one single subject, always wanting more from it. I was very compassionate even as a young girl and wanted to do anything I could for others. This is something that has stuck with me all the way through my adulthood. I want to be able to give children the same passion for learning new things that I’ve always had. For children to be able to look outside the box and what is being presented to them for that special thing, the thing that keeps them excited and interested. Every child has their own spark, something about them, something so significant and special. I want to find that in children, help them to learn and grow. I’m so astonished by the mind of children so creative, imaginative and free spirited. I want to work with children and that spirit to be able to help mold their minds, help them explore and reach their full potential.
Being a teacher wouldn’t be just my job. It would be my life, my heart, and my soul. This is what I want to do with my life; it’s who I want to be. I want to have an impact on a child something like that of Ms. Martello, or the children I have had the opportunity to work with have had on my life. I want to help children reach their optimum, and help them to see what is out there in the world. I’m so inspired by children and their minds. If at least one child can look at me and say I’ve been one of the most important people to them, every thing I have done, all the hours spent studying, they will all be worth it, because being that person to one child would be priceless.
